Australian EdTech delegation explores collaboration opportunities during their first visit to Chennai

Chennai, January 2025:

A 10 member Australian EdTech delegation visited Chennai to explore and grow their footprint in the online education market.

Organised by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) under the Australian Government’s Australia India Business Exchange program, the objective of the visit was to foster partnerships that enhance collaboration between Australia and India.

The delegation comprising of Australian EdTech companies, higher educational institutions, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and universities deepened their understanding of the Indian online education landscape and the EdTech ecosystem.

The delegation was in Delhi last week participating at the India Digital Summit 2025 and met with India’s leading EdTech companies, educational institutions and tech giants at the summit.

In Chennai, the delegation met with the senior officials from public private partnership entities, representatives of educational institutions and tech businesses to explore collaboration and partnership opportunities.

Australia has a vibrant education technology industry that is developing innovative solutions for all segments of the education sector. Australian EdTech companies, universities, RTOs design world-leading content, products, platforms and applications that are in use worldwide. There are more than 700 Australian EdTech companies servicing the education ecosystem. Australian EdTech startups are born global. Approximately 77 per cent of Australian EdTech startups serve international markets.

Australian EdTech companies, universities and RTOs build innovative education products or services using technology in the areas of:

  • Platforms for administration, student management, content management and learning management within the education sector.
  • Digital learning content or services used by learners, education providers or corporations connected to education and learning.
  • Consultants and advisors with specialist EdTech domain knowledge that support the education sector with expertise on product design, learning design or organisational development.
