VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF Advanced Street Theatre Training Program for AHTC Student and Professors in Chennai 

We, Indian Community Welfare Organisation – I.C.W.O. a non governmental organisation working for various developmental projects with specific focus on women and children for the past 27 years in Chennai.

We ICWO – Indian Community Welfare Organisation & HSF – Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung India implement a Pilot Project to initiate AHTC – Anti Human Trafficking Club in Colleges/Institution to create Awareness and STOP Human Trafficking in Tamilnadu.

As part of Capacity Building for the AHTC Student and Professors. We have organized “Two Days Advanced Street Theatre Training Program for Anti Human Trafficking Club Members among Student and Professors” on 26th & 27th September 2022 at ICSA Centre, Jivana Jyothi, Egmore, Chennai.

67 College/Institution Students and Professors from 6 different College /Institution actively participated in the training program. The team will create Awareness on Anti Human Trafficking for 6000 students in this year and 36,000 students in the year 2023. 

The Student and Professors from Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women – CTTE, Annai Violet Arts and Science College, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Thiruthangal Nadar College, ICWO Thiruvallur Staff Team and ICWO Placement Students from K.E College, Kottayam, Kerala and DG Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, Chennai 

Master Trainers Mr.S.Santha Kumar & Ms.Aparna Gopinath trained the team. The newly trained team performed the theatre performance during the Valedictory Function. The Guest and Key Note Address were delivered by Ms.B.Rajya Lakshmi, Advocate, Madras High Court.

Speaking on the occasion Mr.A.J.Hariharan, Secretary-ICWO said the concept of AHTC was developed by Dr.P.M.Nair, IPS (Retd.). ICWO planned to initiate 100 AHTCs in College & Institutions in all 38 districts. He said; we are initiated 94 AHTCs as on 27th September 2022 in Tamilnadu.  In all the Districts committed NGOs identified to support AHTCs activities. 

During the occasion Ms.B.Rajya Lakshmi, Advocate, Madras High Court said this is important that young people are involved in social response initiative for this important work. Constitution India under Article 23 says Human Trafficking in any form is prohibited. Human Trafficking is worst form of crime against human. I appreciate ICWO and college students/professors for their involvement in creating Awareness on Human Trafficking among young people.
